Grange Pavilion - Case Study

We assisted with an exciting flooring project for a leisure/education community centre. We worked closely with the client Grange Pavilion to understand what exactly they were looking to achieve and were able to successfully supply relevant products to meet their brief, as well as helping throughout the entire project from initial assessment right through to project management & application. We have years of experience working with clients in the leisure & education sector, providing them with attractive products that are also able to meet Health & Safety regulations.

What Was The Brief?

The client:

Grange Pavilion is a community centre, built to provide residents with their own indoor and outdoor space to support community-led projects. Their current floor was well-worn & lacklustre. The Grange Pavilion management team required a vibrant coloured floor in a high gloss finish that would inspire the residents who use these spaces. The floor must be aesthetically pleasing, whilst also complementing the current surroundings. Good slip-resistance was also critical, ensuring a safe environment that would provide sturdy footing in both wet & dry conditions.

Brief Overview:

Area Size – 400m2

Durability Required – High Durable

Slip Resistance - Good Slip Resistance

Product – Deep Penetrating Primer, 2 Coats High Build Anti-Slip Epoxy Floor Coating, 1 Top Coat of Clear UV Gloss Coating

How Did We Help?

After an initial consultation with Grange Pavilion's architect, to ensure we were able to supply suitable products and meet the client brief, Mark from our technical team carried out a formal inspection of the floor. This allowed us to get a clear idea on the current condition of the floor and recommend the best course of action and preparation. It was recommended that the floor would need to be Diamond ground to completely smooth the surface as well as creating a key for the epoxy to adhere to. It was agreed that the client would require an external contractor who would be able to work alongside Mark to carry out the recommended preparatory work, as well as installation.

The external contractors were sourced by us, having a solid experience in floor preparation. Under instruction from Mark, the floor was Diamond ground to clean, dry concrete ensuring a smooth area. The installation was then carried out, installing 1 coat of our deep penetrating epoxy primer, followed by 2 coats of our High Build Anti-Slip Epoxy floor coating.  A further coat of Clear UV Gloss was applied to retain the colour and high-gloss appearance of the coating. If exposed to lots of natural light epoxy can discolour over time, this clear coat will minimise any fading or discolouration, ensuring the floor retains its appearance for a number of years.

What Was The Finished Result?

The project was completed to a high standard, on time with the client being exceptionally happy with the results.
