Etch and Clean Application Guide

Resincoat Etch and Clean is the easy way to prepare a concrete floor or surface before beginning a paint or resurfacing job. The product contains a dilute Hydrochloric acid solution which penetrates into a permeable surface and erodes laitance and neutralises any alkalinity in a concrete surface. Once finished, Etch ‘n’ clean will leave your concrete clean and ready for paint.

Surface Preparation 

Etch and Clean is a preparation product to be used when preparing a floor for further coating. It will remove surface laitance and eradicates the dusty surface that can be present on concrete surfaces which prevents paint from adhering to the substrate.

Application

• Pour Resincoat Etch and Clean into a plastic watering can fitted with a plastic rose and apply evenly over 15-20m² in an even, circular motion. The solution will begin to froth when it hits the concrete as the acid reacts with any dirt and alkalines in the surface.
• Scrub with a stiff broom or scrubbing machine. When the frothing stops, the solution should have turned from clear colour to a yellow, indicating a successful neutralisation reaction.
• It is VITAL to then clean, scrub, and flush the residue off with clean water, before the surface dries.
