Copper Dragon Brewery - Case Study

We assisted with a large flooring project for a brewery who were expanding into a new premises for beer production. Our senior technical adviser Mark worked closely with the client to install our High Build Epoxy floor coating. We have helped many customers in the brewing & micro brewing industries who choose to install an epoxy floor due to the benefits of this type of coating in these environments. Our technical team are able to carry out a full assessment of the brewery floor, advising suitable products & then assisting throughout the entire project from application to preparation.

What Was The Brief?

The client:

Copper Dragon Brewery manufactures cask ales from their facility in Keighley West Yorkshire. We were selected to supply our High Build Epoxy when they acquired a new premises for beer production, as the coating had to be incredibly durable and able to withstand heavy machinery, whilst remaining easy to clean and low maintenance. Good slip resistance was also key, the epoxy coating was needed to seal the floor ensuring any spills can be cleaned up in a clean and safe manner.

Brief Overview:

Area Size – 400m2

Durability Required – High Durability

Product – Deep Penetrating Epoxy Primer + 2 Part Non-Slip Brewery High Build Floor Coating

How Did We Help?

After an initial discussion to set the terms of the brief with our client, Mark from our technical team visited the site. The condition of the floor was carefully inspected to highlight any contamination or areas of damage. Mark recommended a diamond grind preparation, this would help smooth the surface, as well as creating a key for the epoxy to adhere to. After which, a deep penetrating epoxy primer was recommended; this primer is specially formulated to go into the substrate and bind any weak cementitious material together, before adding a top coat. 2 coats of our  Non-Slip High Build brewery floor coating was then advised.

How We Assisted With The Self Install?

The client chose to install the coating themselves with Resincoat supplying the products and providing assistance throughout.

After the plan was agreed, we provided the client with equipment hire advice and demonstrated the use of the equipment on site, allowing the client to correctly prepare the floor in readiness for the epoxy primer & floor coating.

We continued to provide support throughout the rest of the project, offering useful tips on mixing, application best practises & information on pot life and working times as to ensure the client applied the product successfully and was able to achieve a high quality finish.

What Was The Finished Result?

The project was completed to a high standard, on time with the client being exceptionally happy with the results.
